August 8th, 2026: Interviews of Lynne Rothrock & The 1st Annual Corridor Talent Search Finalists

During the 5:00pm hour we featured LYNNE ROTHROCK, performer, actress and

musical director. She was born in Cedar Rapids and grew up here. She was a

graduate of Luther College (B. A. MUSIC EDUCATION/THEATER) and Western

Michigan University (M.M. Classical Vocal Performance). Lynn has performed as a

concert artist, in a variety of musicals and theater venues all over the US. Lynn was one

of the 30 vocalists selected to attend the prestigious International Cabaret Conference

at Yale University and works with Michael Feinstein at the Great American Songbook

Foundation. Lynn and her late husband, Ron Dewitt, a Blues and Rock and Roll Hall of

Fame guitarist enjoyed a 15-year career performing together both at home and around

the world. They were headline entertainers on cruise ships, taking them to Australia,

Iceland, South America, South Africa, the Caribbean, Mexico and India.

I had Frank play “Hallelujah, I Love Him So” before I introduced her. Followed by a live performance of “Ooh, Baby Baby”, which was recorded at Opus Concert Café in Des Moines years ago. Then ended with “Back On Base”.

During the 6:00 hour we featured the three winners from The Corridor Talent Search

singing contest. I had HANNA AMUN (1ST PLACE), BENTLEY DAVENPORT (2ND PLACE), & SCARLETT ABBEN (3RD PLACE) in the studio to sing the two songs each of them sang in the FINALS on Saturday, August 1st at The Amana Performing Arts Center. I opened the show with a song by BOB DORR – “Any Ordinary Man”. It had a great message for anyone pursuing a music career. So I played that before I interviewed the girls! HANNA sang “Daddy’s Lessons” and “Be Her”. BENTLEY sang “Forget You” and “Jar of Hearts” and SCARLETT sang “Rise Up” and “Easy on Me”. Before Bentley had to get back to work, we sang “Happy Birthday” to Scarlett on her 11th birthday. She performed a dance routine at St Jude’s Sweet Corn Festival earlier in the day and got really sunburned! The three winners did a FANTASTIC job singing their songs one more time for our listeners. CONGRATS girls!

I played one other song to wrap up the hour. It was my HONORARY FEATURE SONG.... I

dedicated it to my cousin Marcia and Bob’s family. Bob passed away on Thursday, August

6th after a long battle with Alzheimer’s Disease . The song was ZACHARY FREEDOM – “I

Wanna Go Back”, RIP Bob.
