September 5th, 2026: Interviews of Andrew Hoyt & The Mullins Brothers
Updated: Sep 24

During the 5:00pm hour we featured Andrew Hoyt, via phone! It was such a great interview as we found out that Andrew just moved from Des Moines to Chicago a year ago! He grew up with one brother, his father, who played drums and his mother. She loved music and always encouraged his career choices. He taught music in grades 1st through 5th at Westwood Elementary in Ankeny while also playing at gigs in and attending Des Moines. 3 years ago he decided to pursue his music career full time. We opened up with his EP, “Lucky Duck”. We had a great conversation and found out besides playing guitar, Andrew plays ukulele and drums. He is sponsored by a company in Hawaii called Ko Aloha and he is a regular visitor. He has recorded his music in Nashville, Colorado and Des Moines. The second song we played was “Good Morning Des Moines”, and ended with “Kind of Paradise” which was released last year. You can follow Andrew by visiting his website www.andrewhoytmusic.com or follow him on all major platforms.
Other artists and songs played during this hour were; ELIANA GRACE - “Don’t Waste”, KEVIN BURT – “This Trip”, JESSICA MAR – “New Truth”, and SEIZE THE SUN – “Tomorrow”

During the 6:00 hour we featured the extremely talented duo, THE MULLINS BROTHERS. Sam and Stu were originally from Eldora and they knew a few of Frank’s relatives, now they reside in Cedar Rapids. Their father passed away when they were young and they were raised by a single mom. She was a piano player and was very proud of their musical achievements. They both have played in bands prior. Stew with DOGS ON SKIS and Sam and Stew with STICKMAN, which they stated that they get together every couple of years for a band reunion. Before introducing them, we opened with one of their recorded songs called “Your Mystique”. Sam plugged the keyboard into their amp along with the guitar and everything sounded fantastic! They did two songs live, both were cover tunes. One called, “Luckiest Man” and the other one was “Black Bird”. They schedule around DOGS ON SKIS’ busy schedule. THE MULLINS BROTHERS will be performing at Field Day Brewery in North Liberty from 3pm - 6pm on October 4th. Plus, the Bit Brewery in Central City on November 18th, 7pm – 9:30pm.
